Last day of August!. We had a horrible night with Sophie last night. She could not sit still. She was a pest. Nobody was able to sleep. We need up locking her in the garage. Twice. She had really bad gas. She pooped on the mat. She was like a colicky baby. I had her almost asleep when Steve phone pinged and woke her up. Then we went upstairs and she finally decided to sleep. The after a short sleep the alarm clock went off. By mistake. I got up at 9. We decided to hang out at camp. We did our chores. I sewed most of what was left for the day. I took care of several things on my to do list. Steve finally did some carving. We BBQ'ed a pork steak and split it. After dinner it was dishes. Connie and Steve Mitchell shared a fire with us. It was almost nine when they left. Then the usual TV and cuddles.

August 29, 2020 Empire Golf Course, Carson City NV
Today we drove 236 Miles from Mcloud Rv in McCloud CA to Empire Golf Course in Carson City NV. As we started out I got a beesting on the back of my hand. Who would have thought. We left at 9 according to the plan. We took 89 to 44 which turned into 36 and 395. We then stayed on 580 to 50 in Carson City. Tomorrow we will finish the journey to Tahoe. And begin the fight to get a space.
We arrived here about 2:30 and got set up. We are in the parking lot of the Empire Ranch Golf course. Wasn't sure where the dogs could go pee. The was only one little square of grass around a tree. Sophie went but not Hazel. At 3:30 ish we went over to the restaurant for a quick bite. They only had appetizers. They said it would ok to walk the dogs on the grass. So we rushed home and took the dogs out. Then we hung out and read and did crossword puzzles. About 6 I came upstairs for TV and cuddles. We had ice cream and pie then more TV And cuddles.
We arrived here in the heat of the day. It is cooler now and will ne cooler Tahoe.

We both slept in till 8:30. We had a couple of issues with Sophie but we didn't take her out. We did our chores and got dressed. We headed over to Mt Shasta for breakfast at the original Black Bear diner. Thet set up tables in their parking lot and had a huge tent to sit under with tables. Then we drove over to the market to pick up a couple of things. Then out to Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake. Part of California that we both had never seen. Back at the rig I hung out reading and working crosswords while Steve worked on the Puzzle. Stephanie called. Elijah and Gabe's Dad is making noises about switching custody. Rosie the aunt is behind this. So this is going to cost us money. Then dinner, dishes and put away and pick up to leave tomorrow. We walked over to take the garbage and ended up getting a chain saw welcome bear. Not much since we only here for 3 days. Then apple pie a la mode and up to the Bedroom for TV and cuddles.

Sophie got me up at 5 and wanted to go out. Guess I will have to keep her up later so she will sleep in later. I slept in til after 8. I decided to make the apple pie I promised Steve. While it was baking I got dressed and did my chores. Steve worked on the puzzle all the while. After I baked the pie I made pigs in the blanket. Might as well since the oven was hot. After lunch we hopped in the car and checked out the McCloud Reservoir. After that we stopped at the store for ice cream for the pie which turned out yummy. The rest of the afternoon was spent finishing my book and Steve worked the puzzle. I took a siesta. We had leftover pizza for dinner. Dishes dessert and TV with cuddles.

Today was laid back. Still very smokey here. Sophie woke me up at 4 and finally back to sleep by 5 ish. We slept late. Breakfast and chores. Then we got wrapped up in the puzzle until 11:30. Then we decided to go check out the middle and upper McCloud Falls. We did a little walking. Then we went to the grocery store in Mccloud but decided that we needed to go to the Rite Aid in Mt. Shasta. Then I tried the Mt. Shasta store but that was less than best. We finished up the shopping at Ray's. We got gas and headed back. Then we hung out til it was time to BBQ steaks for dinner. We set up some medical appointments in September. I still have to make appointments for the labs in Oakhurst. We had a great dinner and I did dishes. Then it was time for TV and cuddles.

Today we got up leisurely and had breakfast. We left Grant's Pass right at 10 am. We had a pretty short drive to McCloud. About 130 miles straight down 5. We really enjoyed our Harvest host stay. This seems to be working quite well for overnights. We arrived here about 2 pm. We got set up and kicked back. I walked the dogs around the park. We decided to leave the back down. We started another puzzle. I will sew in the kitchen. We had a quick dinner and then we worked on the puzzle for a while. Finally it was was time for TV and cuddles.

August 24, 2020 Smith Family Farm
Sophie got us up at the crack of dawn. She was whining and carrying on. We got out if the park about 9:10. We drove 235 miles. We took 101 to 20 to 34 to 5. We got here about 2:30. We had a little difficulty turning into the farm but went around the block a few times but we were set up by 3:30. We have our satellite back up and running. Steve is happy with his boxing. We snitched the truck and stopped to look for a mask for Steve. Then we got gas and picked up a pizza. We are getting to know Grant's Pass quite well. Then we stopped at Cartwright's Meat Market where I stocked up on pork and meat. Then after dinner I walked the dogs over to the school across the street to do their business. No such luck. Then we sat out
in front of the rig and watched the sunset. Finally we went in and it was time for TV and cuddles.

This is our final night here. We liked the park though I would prefer a spot with a little more privacy. We got up at 8 and got dressed and did our chores. Then off to town we went to have a last hurrah at the Chalet for a nice breakfast. We stopped to wash the truck. A final stop at Fred Meyer to drop off something. Back to the rig . We then proceeded to pack up and leave tomorrow. We took alot of breaks and worked on and off. I decided that I would start doing some longer walks. I walked the loop. I got my 20 minutes of exercise in. Yoohoo. After I recuperated I mopped the floors in the back.
Somehow he made the mess cleaning the table and it was my job to clean it up. I swept in the main cabin and Steve actually vaccuumed in the truck. We had dinner of sausage and potatoes. I did dishes then it was time for TV and cuddles.

Well finally tomorrow will be our last day here. We were up at 7:30 and ready to work. I made pancakes that according to Steve too thick but tasty nonetheless. I gathered up copious amounts of laundry and we headed over to the laundry . I got the bedspread and blanket. I used all the washers. Then the dryers. The guy that came to wash was very understanding and patient. We ran home for 10 minutes and rushed back to put everything in the dryers. Since we have no phone service in the park so Steve said he would be back at noon to pick me up. As I folded the last little bit of clothes at high noon he was right there to pick me up. We loaded up all the clothes and headed to town. We went to Fred Meyer where I did some grocery shopping. Then we stopped for gas and headed back to the rig to put everything away. Then we hung out for awhile. I put up all my clothes and made the bed with the clean blanket and bedspread. Unfortunately I hardly had the bedspread on the bed before I split my drink on it. Finally a walk to the dog park. We BBQ'ed chicken for dinner with left over sides. I did dishes and went upstairs for TV and cuddles. I heard voices outside and it turned out to be Jane Turner from POS. We sat and chatted for quite awhile. Back to the bedroom for more TV and cuddles.
August 21, 2020 Whaler's Rest RV Resort, South Beach, OR
We are now down to the last couple of days here. Tomorrow I tackle the laundry. We slept in late as usual. Tomorrow we vow to get up before 8. The day started off sunny but that didn't last. We did our cores and had breakfast. Then we decided to drive into town to check our phones. We stopped at the Sourh Beach State Park to make some calls. We found out that the air quality is really bad right now due to all the fires. Then we went out to Szabos parking lot where I walked the dogs and Steve updated the rand mcNally. Then we picked up burgers at Burger King. Then we headed back to the rig. It rained most of the day. I watched a movie and worked crosswords while Sophie layed on my lap. Fed the dogs and warmed up dinner. Finally after dishes it was time for TV and cuddles.

Well we had our walk to the beach. If we were on the beach more than 5 minutes I would be surprised. We had our walk about 10. We got up late again about 8:30. I think part of the problem is that there is not much here to do. Without phone service and satellite Steve is about at the end of his tether. He doesn't like the programming on the cable channel. His plantar fasciitis hurts but he won't go get shoes to help him. We put both tables down but of course he wanted the big one to work puzzles on. I got the feeling he was priming the pump for a fight so after lunch I went upstairs for a movie and some puzzles. I worked a lot of puzzles today. We warmed up the chicken roll ups and rice for dinner. Not sure what tomorrow will bring for dinner. It showered about the time I took the dogs out. After dinner I did the dishes the went up stairs for TV and cuddles.

Our time here is dwindling down. Just 4 more days. I got up late about 9. My leg is much better. I continue to sit on the bed without crossing my legs and try not to lay on my left side while reading. I made a crab and cheese omelette. Steve had a small hissy fit because I snapped at him. But he got over it. After chores we put on our old clothes and gathered out berry picking tools and headed to Newport. We picked quite a few . First we got some propane. After berry picking we stopped at Walmart to get a few things. We got takeout at Taco Bell which was just about cold by the time we got back to the rig. We put our groceries away then I worked the puzzle. Steve finally joined me. We BBQ'ed pork steaks for dinner. We anticipate rain tomorrow so we won't be BBQing tomorrow or Friday. I have got to make room in the freezer so that we can hit the meat market in Grants Pass. After dinner we finished the puzzle. Finally it was time for TV and cuddles. Steve brought me a huge bowl of vanilla ice cream and berries.

Sophie woke me up at 7:30. I could have slept much longer. It was chilly and overcast. We alternately worked on the puzzle and I worked crosswords. I am having a hard time walking. Not sure if it is the cold weather my back or a touch of sciatica. It seems better today. I walked the dogs twice. I did do some cutting work on the snowman quilt. About 5 after our phones were charged we went into town to have steaks at Szabos. Tuesday night half price night on Steaks. We couldn't get in til 7 pm. It was very good. I have got to remember to make reservations during this time of 50% capacity. We did a little searching for blackberries. Then back to the restaurant for dinner. Finally back to the rig for TV and cuddles.

We are going to have to start setting the alarm. We got up both of us about 9:30. We did our chores and had breakfast. Then we headed for Florence. We stopped to get gas and looked for a place to get a burger then decided to checkout South Jetty first. It was okay. Unfortunately we missed out on seeing the sewer sites. They had a good chance of getting satellite as well. Then we went to Dairy Queen for burgers. We drove to old town to the Veterans Memorial and parked and ate it. Then we headed back . We decided to go Hwy 126 towards Mapleton then ten mile creek road to Indian School Road. We continued on the narrow winding forest service roads for about 30 plus miles to the coast at Cape Perpertua south of Yachts. Then back to the rig. I made crab salads for dinner. Then we sat out by the dwindling fire for a few minutes. Finally up to the bedroom for TV and cuddles .

Well the month is about half over. It was a very laid back day. I didn't get up until almost nine. I had breakfast did my chores. I laid the blocks out for Annibelle's quilt and put the rows together. Then Steve and I jumped in the truck and parked in the marina in Newport. We made a few calls and I caught up on my words for friends games. We headed back to the rig. I made pigs in the blanket. I set up my machine in the main cabin since Steve has a puzzle on the sewing table. I finished Jaime's quilt top. I sewed thevpianp keys on. I dabbled with the puzzle then walked the dogs. Warmed up dinner and retired to the bedroom TV and cuddles.

They are gone. The Summer of Stickney is over. They left right after breakfast. We got up late. Steve was having diarrhea so I had a hard time getting him up. Stickney's arrived at 8:30 actually before 8:30. We set off for breakfast in separate cars. We ate at the Chalet. It was yummy. Sheila and I ran in Safeway. Then we split up. We got back to the trailer about noon. Steve napped and I finished squaring up my blocks. Steve pulled out the crab from the bodies and we froze the legs in 5 or 6 bags. Hope it keeps.
It was kind of lonely here today. Have to get back in our routine. Steve started a jigsaw puzzle which we haven't done in years. I miss the connection with my friends online. I didn't realize how much I enjoy connecting with friends either by texting or on Facebook. I didn't realize how much connection there was through calls texts and Facebook. This is a good park except for the lack of connectivity. We BBQ'ed the salmon on a wood plank. It turned out really well. After dishes it was time to retire to the bedroom for TV and cuddles.
August 13, 2020 Whaler's Rest, South Beach OR
Well I don't miss the internet as much as I thought I would but it is darn inconvenient to have to go into town to make calls. We got up fairly early 7:30 for me 8 for Steve. We did our chores and I got biscuits and gravy started. The Stickney's arrived on time. We had a good breakfast . Stevevwas acting like jerk and made us wait in the truck to pay back Jerry for keeping him waiting. So we left here at 11ish. We headed to Seal Rock where we got to see some wonderful carvings. Then we found a place to pee. Down to the Crab Place for clam chowder. We ate outside. Then we took a road to Sieltz . Them back to Newport where we stopped at a Fred Meyer that was huge. Finally back to the rig for BBQ ribs and conversation till nine. We always have fun with them. But I am always ready for them to leave. They wear me out. Sheila is a sweetheart but she asks such stupid questions. Bless her heart.

Wow 12 hours with the Stickney's. Do I get w medal?. Where do I begin. We picked them up at their cabin just before 8:30. We headed to Lincoln City for breakfast at Sambos. It was very good. Then we drove out to Devil's Lake for a potty break. We took them out to Drift Creek bridge. We were going back the back road but after we helped a man pull his car back off the road we ran into a logging truck. We turned around. A quick stop at the Christmas store in Lincoln City. Then we checked out the Salmon River Mouth by taking Three Rock Road. The we checked out Boiler's Bay and Devil's punchbowl. We stopped and shopped in Depoe Bay. Finally we made a quick stop at Walmart and back to the rig. We dropped them off at their place then went to our place. Before we got in the door they were pulling up. Then dinner preparations begin. We made cod or sea bass stuffed with crabmeat and and wrapped in bacon. Sheila did dishes and we got that cleaned up. We sat outside by the campfire until the cold drove us home. We then had our ice cream treat. Finally about 9 they left only to return in twelve hours. Only one day to go and they will be on the road back home.
The evening finished with TV and cuddles. Sheila shared with me about her book and prose she was writing. That she hasn't touched in 40 years. I will be interested to see them when next we meet.

We had a great day today. Sophie woke me up rather early. She knocked the gondola off my night stand. Steve left at 5 for his fishing trip. Finalkt at 8 :30 I got up and dressed and walked them. I fixed some cereal for breakfast and Sheila arrived at 9! So I fixed her some bmtoast for breakfast. Then I brushed my teeth and made the bed and brushed my teeth. Then we put the dogs crates in the back seat of her car and headed out. First stop Quilt store. But in spite of there being a sale I remained sale but I remained strong and did not make a purchase. Then a stop at Starbucks for a mocha and I helped Sheila set up her account at Chewy. Then we were off to the outlets . We couldn't find a spot to park in so we headed down the road to Devil's Lake State Park where we all made deposits. Back to the outlets and we found a parking spot. We went to Lane Bryant which was closed. Then Hanes for Bras and claires for Sheila. Steve called to let me know he was off the boat. We headed to Newport and Safeway. Once we checked out we headed back to the rig. The guys were not back yet which we thought was curious but we out everything away and and sat and chatted. Finally the guys rolled up--they were at Jerry 's place waiting for us. Once the told us about the fishing trip we hung out at the house. They went back to Newport to get ice. Then we BBQ'ed a wonderful tri-tip. We had dinner and dessert. Ince they were done they headed back to their house. Finally it was time for TV and cuddles.

We arrived here about 10:30. We got up at the crack of dawn. Steve said there would be no rush but of course he was ready to rumble. We were out of there at 9:30. It took us an hour to make the drive from Neskowin. It is quite a bit cooler here than Neskowin. We found a spot that we thought would get satellite so we got set up and unhooked. Unfortunately we got too far back in the site for our comfort so we hooked back and moved forward 2 and a half feet. We finished up then had lunch. We jumped in the car and Steve did a practice run to the boat launch where he will go tomorrow morning at . We checked out a few places to eat. Then back to the rig where we have no satellite and no phone. We hung out until Sheila and Jerry got here about 5:30. Then off to dinner. Unfortunately we failed to make reservations. Stevevwas being an asshole. We ended up at Szabos. The food was good but we at on paper plates with plastic silverware. Then we came back for TV and cuddles. Steve and Jerry will have a long day and it will start very early.

Another work day. I got up about 8:45 which seems to be my normal time. Steve wanted sausage and eggs so I fixed him a good breakfast. Then we hauled the clothes down to the laundry. I got the rugs and I pulled the sheets and all the whites. That leaves the doggie blankets and beds and bedspread. It didn't take long and now we are in good shape for Newport. Back to the house to put it all away. Then I ironed about half my blocks and squared them up. Then I got dinner in the oven and put new bed sheets on. Finally dinner and dishes for the second time. Then uo to the bedroom for TV and cuddles.

I ironed a couple and squared them. They look great. Then after lunch I defrosted the refrigerator. What a job that was. I found a home for those soup bones. This women was sitting out on the grass as I walked out. So I had Steve rescue the bag of bones from the trash. 5 dogs were very happy. Then we BBQ'ed hot dogs and I did dishes. Tomorrow I tackle the laundry. Finally it was time for TV and cuddles.

I sewed and Steve carved off and on. Steve had a long conversation with Dennis Wheeler. He has stage 4 liver cancer and has been given about 4 years. Hopefully it will be longer. It was another beautiful day on the coast. I got about half way thru my sashing of the blocks. Lots of use with the seam ripper. Tedious work with the seam ripper. I made chicken roll ups for dinner. Lots of dishes. Then we sat outside by the fire with the dogs. Especially the one who can no longer be trusted not to pee in the house. Finally it was time for TV and cuddles.

We got up at 8ish or at least I did. We did our chores and got ready to leave for breakfast out. Steve walked the dogs but of course she didn't do it the first two minutes so I took her out and she went for me. It rained last night. We finally went into the city for breakfast at Sambos. It was Ok. The omelette was rather dry and the sour cream was too late to do any good. Anyway we finished up and took the girls for their mani pedis. Sophie was so excited she jumped right into my arms. Until she found out where we were headed. Then a stop at Safeway. Got the ingredients for some more hot chocolate mix. Back at the rig I stated sewing and sewed till about 4. Steve decided we should be registered to vote in South Dakota. He wanted my CA license number which took my forever to remember. Finally out of the blue it came to me. B5309720.
Then I put the chocolate mix together. Then I made dinner. Watched our two game shows that we like and did dishes. Then it was time for TV and cuddles.
