September 30, 2020 Ponderosa RV Resort, Lotus CA

Last day of September.   We got up really early 6:30 and we were on the road by 8:30.  We took 25 to 156 to 5 to 50 and voila in 4 hours we were in Ponderosa.   We came in a grabbed our unusual spot in the E section.  We got setup.  Temperature was almost 100 degrees. We only had 30 amp service and we were dying of the heat.  It is kind of smokey here.  We were dying in the trailer.   We even started the generator so we could get 50 amp service to the air conditioner.  We stopped by Kathy and Dave's to determine where they were.  Then we headed over to Cool to grab a burger.  When we came back  Kathy found us a spot in the 50 amp area on Battleship row down by the river.  The spot is very narrow but we have 50 amp service and we have satelite.   So we parked the motorcycle in the spot and as the harvest moon was coming out we packed up everything and moved lock stock and barrel to the new spot.  Steve was being a real asshole during the move.  We had words.   Not too happy with him right now.  I came in a enjoyed the air conditioner and Steve went out and visited for awhile.   I got a few more things unpacked and decided to have TV and cuddles fir the rest of the night.  At least we were close to the group instead of down in the weeds below. We are supposed to have several more days of high temps.

September 28, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

Well we had an earthquake tonight about 7:30.  It was 3.3.  There was a bang like someone hit the trailer.  I rushed down from the bedroom.  Steve dot dressed and ran outside. I turned on all lights.   The neighbor said there was an earthquake.  The San Andreas  fault runs right through Hollister.

I got up at 8:30.  We had breakfast and did chores.   Then we got busy.  I packed up the sewing room.   Then I stripped the bed and and remade it with the new sheets.  We packed some things under the bed and we are pretty ready to put the table away and put in the bike tomorrow. I sorted the clothes and got ready to go to the laundry.   It was really hot out. Close to 100. We had lunch.  Then  I did  three loads and brought them back.  Finally it was time for dinner.  Did dishes and took the dogs for walk.  Finally it was time for TV and cuddles.   Then the earthquake happened.

September 27, 2020 San Benito RV and camping Resort, Paicines CA

Two more days and we are out of here.  According to reports there is no electricity in the area.  We got up at a reasonable hour 8:30 for me.  When Steve wants me to get up he won't actually call to me and wake up but he leaves the bedroom door open turns up the TV and generally causes me wake up.  Then I made a version of eggs Benedict  I found in a Hannah Swensen book.  Not really impressed.  Will have to try it the good old fashioned way.  With an egg poacher.  Then I sewed and Steve did some painting.   I finally finished the quilt top from hell. It is not going to take any prizes at the fair. We stopped to take the dogs for a walk.   I did some reading off and  on and finished another book in the Virgin River series.   We BBQ'ed chuck eye steak.  It was rather tough.  Jane stopped by to get a restaurant recommendation.   I did dishes and then it was time for TV and cuddles.   It was rather hot here today too hot for a long walk.

Well we didn't leave the park today.  I took a really long hot walk while Steve carved.  I sat down to sew about 11:30.  Then Jane Turner dropped by for a two hour visit.  That gal can really talk.  Then a short walk with Jane to walk the dogs.  Finally back to sewing.  I finally got the quilt put together and the border cut and ready to sew on.  I made a tamale pie for dinner.  Another quick walk with the dogs and it was time for TV and cuddles.   The weather is supposed to heat up so walking may be out.

September 25, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

Well we had a rather busy day.  We got up after a hard night.  Couldn't get to sleep last night.  Steve ate breakfast and dawdled so we missed breakfast at McDonald's by 5 minutes.  So we just ordered large cafe mochas.  Once again they got the order wrong .  What we got was iced medium cafe mocha frappes.  We sent them back and got hots ones but mediums again.  Then we were off to Costco.   We did our shopping there and stopped at Subway in Hollister.  Where they trouble getting our order correct as well.  We came home had our sandwiches and put everything away.  Then we just hung out for awhile.  I took the dogs for another long walk.  Then we sputtered around till dinner.  Then dishes and another day draws to a close.  Another shirt walk and it was time for TV and cuddles.   Just 4 more days at this place.

September 24, 2020, San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

Another laid back day at the rig.  We haven't left the Campground except to have breakfast yesterday.   We got up leisurely me about 8:30.  We had breakfast and lounged around till about 11.  We did chores and got dressed.   At Steve and I took a walk.  The flies were bothering us and Steve did nothing but complain about it.  All you have to is keep your mouth shut so the flies can't get in.  We came back to have lunch. We got in a call to Sandy and Alan.  32 minutes.   I did some sewing.   This quilt sashing has been the project from Hell.  I have done more ripping out than sewing.  I sewed most of the afternoon.   The dogs and I took another walk.  I feel so much better since I have been doing about 5 thousand steps a day.  I sleep better.  I have more energy for other things.   We BBQ'ed chicken thighs for dinner.  Just prior to dinner Steve discovered that our TV antenna on the fig is missing.  He had to get on the roof twice once to check it out and once to stuff one if the dogs balls in the hole.  I hate having him on the roof.  After doing the few dishes it was  time for TV and cuddles.

September 23, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

We have another week here. Not one of our favorite parks for sure.  It is very remote and not very well kept up.  All weeds no grass and lots of flies and bugs. Anyway we were up early 7:30.  We did our chores and got ready and were out the door by 8 as planned.   We went to breakfast at the Country Rose at the corner of San Benito and South St. Same street where the Motorcycle rally took place 18 years ago.  Things have certainly changed.  We came back to the rig.  Steve carved .  I actually napped for a few minutes as did Steve.  About 11 I took the dogs for a long walk.  Then while Steve carved I sewed.  I got stuck and called Betty for help. Finally got the two side panels.  It involved the seam ripper. Then we BBQ'ED hamburgers for dinner.  I finished a book today.  A J. D.  Robb book. Finally it  was  time for TV and cuddles.   Pretty boring here.

Today was a very laid back day. I got up at almost 9.  We had breakfast and hung out around the house.   Steve took his shower at about noon.  I sewed off and on during the day.  About noon I took the dogs for a very long walk.  Clear out in the 200's.  Then lunch.  About 3 steve decided we should take the dogs for yet another walk.  So we walked through the 400's.  Then dinner and dishes.  Finally it was time for TV and cuddles.

September 21, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

Well here we go again.  We got up late ate breakfast and chores then hit the road again.  We were just going to get the mail in Paicines about 4 miles away.  Then we decided to take the twisty rough road to Panoche.  Nothing out there but grazing land.  Most of the farms were not doing much of anything.  We took the road to Mercy Hot Springs and turned off before we got to Mendota on 101.  We headed north and got off at 152 to Gilroy.  At Gilroy we went to the Walmart.  What an experience.   Then we took 101 to 25 to Hollister.   Back at the rig we hung out put away groceries.   Then dinner I forced Steve to eat the left over fish we had last week.   I did dishes while Steve piddled around on the truck.  I decided to go down and visit Jane Turner.  I was only stopping to say hi and maybe have her down for a fire tomorrow.   Jane was ready to go fir a walk.  So we walked and ended up at our place for conversation and a fire.  She was here till 8 :30.  Then Steve walked her home and finally it was time for TV and cuddles.

September 20, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

We got up about 8.  Steve wanted bacon and eggs for breakfast so we did.  Then we decided to take a Sunday drive to the Pinnacles about 30 miles away.  We took hiway 25 to the Pinnacles.  The road was closed due to fires.  After taking the dogs potty and Steve we headed down hiway 25 to 198 which dead ended into 101.  Then hiway 101 to 46 at Paso Robles over to 1 at Cambria.  We went thru San Simeon and saw Hearst Castle sitting on the Bluff.   The road in was closed of course.  Then I saw a sign that said the road was closed 38 miles ahead near Big Sur due to fires.  So after we passed the elephant Seal Beach.  Then we turned around and retraced our steps to Paso Robles.   We stopped for a potty break at a rest stop.  Restrooms closed so back to keeping my legs crossed.  We drove to King City and got gas and used their facilities.   From 101 we took 156 to Hollister.   Then union Avenue back to the rig.  We finally got here at 6 pm.  About 8 hours on the road.  That is longer then we normally drive from one camping spot to the next.  The handyman that was next to us left today.   He was very messy.  The weather has turned hot again.  Steve actually forgot his phone and left the air off while we were gone.  The butter melted on the counter.

September 19, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

We both slept in late this morning.  We needed the rest.  Steve and I set off on a walk.   Steve had visiting in mind I had exercise.  We found out where Kim and Dave were camped.  So we sat and visited with Kim and her kid and grandkids.   Then back to the rig for lunch.  I had a long conversation with Maureen Klecker.   Then got updated with Sally's condition.  The Steve carved for awhile and I sewed.  I fixed chicken enchiladas.   While that was in the oven the dogs and I took a short walk.  Then dinner and dishes.  Dave came by to chat for a minute.   Now I remember we never got close to them.  Finally it was time for TV and cuddles.

September 18, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

Another amazing day on the road.  We got up at the crack of dawn did our chores and took off for Coarsegold.  We took 25 to 156 to 152 to 99 and made a turn on Cleveland to 145 to 41 and in reverse to go home. We stopped at Walmart in Los Banos for DEF.  then we hit Black Bear Diner for breakfast.   Then we were back on the road to Coarsegold.   We got there just after 10:30. Kathy from across the street gave us a wonderful welcome and caught us up on all the gossip.   She has been watering our plants.  We opened up the shed and wonder of wonder the golf cart started right up and Steve backed it out if the shed.  We unloaded the truck with what we brought and put it in the shed.  We took out what we came to get .  We checked our list twice. A quick stop at the park office to get our mail and we were back on the road to the rig.  The quality was horrible.   The dogs got to go pee.  We stopped at Safeway in Hollister then O'Reilly's  and Goodwill.  Finally we grabbed a burger for what I thought was a late lunch early dinner.  For Steve it was just a late lunch.  When we got home we crashed.  Then went through all the mail.  I went up to the bedroom for TV and cuddles while Steve had a dinner snack.  We have 12 days to fill.  Ugh.

September 17, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

Tomorrow is the big day.  We head to Ciarsegold to take excess stuff to the storage unit and pick up more stuff.

I ended up sleeping most of the night in the recliner as Sophie tried to wake us up.  But she didn't join me in the recliner until morning.   I finally got up about 8.  Steve tried his hardest to wake me up.  I have learned to sleep through his slamming of cabinets and microwave doors.  We had breakfast and started Gathering  up things we were taking down to put in storage.  I got my sewing set up.  We had an early lunch.  Then I actually sat down and got some sewing done.  I took the dogs for a rather long walk around noon.  Late in the afternoon we loaded the truck and both Steve and I  took another walk.  Then dinner which was kind of chicken cordon blue.  Dishes were done and I escaped to the bedroom for TV and cuddles.   Steve has misplaced the keys for the Teryx.   The search is on.

September 16, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

Laundry day today.  Wednesday must be laundry day in the Park.  I got up at 8 and breakfasted and did chores.   A little after 10.  It was a busy place in addition to being cleaned.  Steve took me over but we forgot the chair.  So after getting three loads started we jammed back to the rig.  Turns out the chair was already in the back.  So back to the laundry.   We got them in the dryer and the last load in a washer.  Steve left me there.  Jane Turner arrived , she is tired after doing alot of driving.  Then Steve came to get just before I got the whites out of the dryer.  Back to the rig for lunch and chilling.  We started pulling out things  that we are taking back to Coarsegold on Friday.  I pulled out my quilt but couldn't really get started until I get the rest of the sewing things out maybe tomorrow.  The dogs and I took a long walk. Then we had pecan crusted fish for dinner much to Steve's chagrin.  It turned out okay. We tried sitting outside but the flies got too pesky.  Finally it was time for TV and cuddles to finish off the evening.

September 14, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort , Paicines CA

Today I wore myself out working today.  Using the excuse that he needed ant killer and the puppies needed toothpaste Steve took a motorcycle ride.   I got left behind to scrub and mop floors and give the puppies baths.  I worked quite a few puzzles.   Then Steve came home and almost dropped the bike when he tried to park it under the front of the trailer. I ran outside and helped him get it back up.  Then we chilled out for awhile.  I took the dogs for a nice long walk.  I need to do that everyday.   We BBQ'ed pork chops for dinner.  Did dishes then it was time for TV and cuddles.

September 13, 2020 San Benito RV and Camping Resort, Paicines CA

We left Tahoe Valley Campground bright and early.   The kids came by to say good bye.  We got up very early 6:30.  We were on the road by 8 :30.  Steve forgot to plug the trailer in so we stopped outside the park.  As we got down the road we realized that we had no brakes.  He was convinced it was a fuse.  But my idea was correct  it was the plug.We stopped again to check to make sure we had the the plug seated correctly.  Still none.  It came on briefly but went back on the blink.   When we got to Bradshaw we pulled off for  a potty break for all.  Steve unplugged and reseated the plug.  And it worked. No need for new fuses. and Steve got in and readjusted the plug.     We were going to  take Hwy 50 all the way to 5.  We saw a sign that read 5 was experiencing long delays due to construction so we took  Bradshaw to  Grant line to 99 to 4 to 5 then 33 to 152 to 156.  We turned on Fairway thru Hollister.   Then to La cienaga  rd out to park which is located in the boonies.  We got set up.  The relaxed the rest of the day.  6:30 is pretty early.  Dinner was left over taco mix which  I thought turned out pretty good but Steve wasn't  convinced.   Dishes then TV and cuddles.

September 12, 2920 Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe CA

This is our final night here.  We had a wonderful visit with the kids.  We got up and I got dressed and did chores.  I made the gravy .  The kids came shortly after 9 and I started shoveling food out the doors.  We ate and chatted till almost noon.  Nikki and Dad went to gass up the truck and find propane which they were unable to do.  Then wen hung out at the house until about 3.  We put the bike in the back and put a few things away in preparation  for leaving tomorrow. Then the troops arrived.  I set out the remaining crab and melted butter.  They ate it all gone.  Which left a huge space in my freezer.  We BBQ'ed  tri tip and chicken.  The kids played games until dinner and made themselves scarce after dinner. We played a rousing game of 5 crowns.  The girls got a bad case of the sillies and Sophie got pretty upset since they were trying to prevent Sophie from getting out by shaking a water bottle at her.  We made akot of noise.   Our neighbors were pretty scarce.  Overwhelmed with all the noise and people at our place.  Nikki took the Bully  steps home.  Yeah.  Won't have to store them in Coarsegold. We weren't exactly Covid appropriate.   After they left we finished packing up and cleaning.  Then it was time for  TV and cuddles.

September 11, 2920 Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe CA

We got up at a reasonable hour.  Breakfast and chores.  About 10 we went and visited the kids at their spot.   We came back here and had lunch.  Pigs in the blanket.  Becky and I ran to the store.  Steve did some carving.  He gets so grumpy when the kids are all around.  He just can't take the hullabaloo.   And he doesn't try to hide it.  He is also bothered by the smoke.  Anyway. I played games with Gabe and sky and Becky.  Gabe is really on the ball.  Amazing kid.  They are all growing like weeds.  We had a Taco bar for dinner.  It went rather well.  Stephanie and Nikki showed up about 7.  Then I did dishes.  We took the truck and went to visit everybody at their site.  We stayed for about 45 minutes.  Home for TV and cuddles. Tomorrow is our last day here.  I am more than ready to get away from all the people and craziness here.

Well the kids are coming in bunches.  The first salvo arrived about 6.  They sure are getting big.  We were more than ready .  Skye is so studious.  I got up at 7 and went out to the sofa and slept till 8:45.  We had breakfast.  We did our chores.  We gathered up the puppies and decided to check out the route that we will take when leave here for the Hollister area. We took Hwy 89 to 88.  We tried to go to blue Lakes but everything was closed down when we got there.  We went to Caples Lake.  Then back to Gardinerville.  Over to Tahoe via Kingsbury grade.  Stopped at Safeway and picked a few items.  Finally home for lunch.  I picked my sewing area and got ready for the kids.  They arrived about 6:30 and got set up .  We BBQ'ed hot dogs.  We had chips with dip and fruit.  They made smores and left  about 8:20.  Finally it was time for TV and cuddles.   The air quality here is really bad due to all the fires.

September 9, 2020 Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe CA

Another busy day for us.  The kids start arriving  tomorrow.   California continues to burn. Only three more days here then we are off to Hollister.  I got up about 8.  About 12:30 we were woken up by Steve's phone going off.  We hung out here while Steve took care off some computer work and Bill paying.  Then we were off to Carson.  First stop was Walmart.   Apparently they are remodeling and they had everything torn apart for some big remodel they were undertaking.  I got what I needed and left.  Then to B of A for quarter which are now the subject of hoarding.   Then over to Costco for a few items.  Steve ran in first for a potty break then I went in and grabbed what I needed.  Finally we returned to Safeway to pick up the things I left behind yesterday  plus a few more.  Finally we headed back to the rig.  Of course we had to put it all away. Everything was accounted for. Finally it was time to sit and chill for awhile.  We has rotisserie chicken for dinner.  Then dishes and finally up to the bedroom for TV and cuddles.

September 8, 2020 Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe CA

We had a fun day today.  We got up way too early 7:30.  We got dressed and did our chores the headed out to breakfast at Bert's about 2 blocks away.  It was ok but we had to wait in order to eat inside.  Then we headed over to the Zephyr Cove Safeway which was much less crowded than the one right in Tahoe.  We then headed home.  We hung out here after putting the groceries away.  I spent an hour on the phone rescheduling our doctors appointments.   I finished making some new masks for us.  Then I finished the book I was reading Thick as Thieves by Sandra Brown.   We BBQ'ed chicken for dinner.  The dishes and it was time for TV and cuddles.  Much cooler and breeze today.  We continue to monitor the fires near Coarsegold.

Monday, September 7, 2020

September 7, 2020 Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe CA

We are very concerned about the fires near Coarsegold.   Many people are hooked and ready to leave or they have already left.  We decided to go to a park near Hollister and just drive into Coasegold  and get our stuff. I will switch out our Drs appointments  and push them out to October.  As soon as I got up Steve hit me with our change in plans and I made the reservations .  I did chores.  Steve went out and carved.  Then I went out the weather was perfect.  The park is much more empty than it was yesterday.   We had lunch.  Then I cut out some masks.  Steve got some things down from the loft storage along with the requisite bitching.  We had leftovers for dinner. The only thing left is the Chinese food.  After dinner I did the dishes then we sat out in the smoky air and watched the fire.  Finally it was time to retire to the bedroom for TV and cuddles.  We actually have not left the camp since last Thursday.  It will be nice to get out for awhile tomorrow.

September 6, 2020 Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe CA

Today was laundry day. 4 loads today and will have to do more on Saturday before we leave.  Many of the park members are hooked up  and ready to leave if they are evacuated due to fires.  We are curious as we are headed to Coarsegold next.  We are waiting to hear.  Basically I spent the first half of the day in the laundry as there were only two machines available.  It still went fast.  The sky has been overcast and ash has been falling.   Once we got everything home and had lunch I continued to procrastinate on the sewing project.  I did finish reading  Robyn Carr book number 4.  Not a favorite.   It didn't follow some of the timelines set in book 3.  But it was a Christmas Book.   Hopefully book 5 will get up back on track.  Then a walk for the dogs and we BBQ'ED a chuck eye steak.  Finally the dogs and I retired for TV and cuddles.   Last day of our incarceration.   The park is a zoo.  People are everywhere.   Jaime Boes stopped by to say hi.  She is camping in the park as well.

September 5, 2020 Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe CA

Another day down at our camp.  There are almost no empty spots.  People and kids are running rampant.  We got up leisurely.   I made sausage and eggs for breakfast.   Then I made the potato salad for tonight's dinner. It actually turned out great.   Finally I did the dishes,  made the bed, and got dressed. By then it was noon.  I finish a book and all the crosswords in the two books I was working on.  I walked the dogs twice and procrastinated all day on sewing on my Halloween wall hanging. Once we had dinner I did more dishes and retired to the bedroom for TV and cuddles.  2 day down 2 to on our incarceration.

September 4, 2020 Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe CA

Today was very laid back.  We were up by 8ish.  We started our 3 day imprisonment.   Labor day crowds are here, the place is packed.  Breakfast and chores.  Sophie seems to be constipated.   I got some sewing done.  Getting ready to start my Halloween wall hanging will leave me one quilt top to sash.  It is hot here and going to get hotter.  We are in here like sardines.  I did get a little walk in with the dogs.  I got some reading in as well and of course some crossword time.  We had leftover meatloaf and baked potatoes for dinner.  Dishes and then time for TV and cuddles.   Steve was in some kind of snit for a couple of hours but I just ignored him and he recouped.  Hope we don't kill each other during our holiday incarceration.

September 3, 2020 Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe CA

Today was our 15th Anniversary! And  21 years together.   21 years of putting up with each other.  I got up about 8.  We did chores and breakfast.   Then Steve carved and I got some sewing done.  It is nice to be finishing up all these little projects.  Glenda and Tom showed for a visit. They were on the way home from their 10 day whirlwind trip to Yellowstone and Glacier  Parks.   They left about 12:30 and then I made pigs in the blanket for lunch.   I got a call from the Mitchell's to let us know they were leaving early because her Steve had a toothache.   We finished lunch and went over there and said goodbye.  We came back to sewing and hanging out.  Then we went to dinner to celebrate our anniversary.   We chose Hunan Garden close to the "Y".  We actually had great food.  Will definitely go back.  And we will be back.  We really like this park.  Once we were back after a little TV I headed upstairs for more TV and cuddles.   It was a nice day.

September 2, 2020 Tahoe Valley Campground, South Lake Tahoe CA

Well we had another great day here in Tahoe.  We got up intending to go to breakfast with the Mitchell's but the had to cancel because a pine cone took out his truck's windshield.   So we decided to have breakfast at Ernie's not far from the park.  We sat outside.   When we left Steve tried to take us to Placerville so we made a U turn trough the neighborhood.   Then we headed out to take a loop around the lake which took a couple of hours.  It was a beautiful day.  We stopped a couple of places Safeway and Big 5.  We came home and put everything away then Cinnie and Steve came over and we chatted for 3 hours.  They left and I walked the dogs and cooked a meatloaf for dinner.  It was pretty good.   I bought  the meat from Cartwright's in Grants Pass.  Dishes and then TV  and cuddles.

Wow what a day.  We did lots of errands today.  I got up at 7  and we left here at quarter to 8.  First stop was Asian nails in Carson City.  Then we tried to go to Big 5 but it was closed.  We grabbed a breakfast sandwich at Subway which was less then best.  Then we waited for for Supercut 11 hair cuts.  Where they butchered my hair.  Then off to Costco.   Ran thru there.  Then we made a stop at BofA.  Then we headed back to Tahoe via Kingsbury grade Hwy 207.  A quick stop at the Goodwill.  Then over to Raley's to finish shopping.   Still missing some items.  We got back to the rig and put everything away.  I sat down to read a book and Steve decided to carve.  I walked  down to Steve and Connie's to confirm our breakfast plans.  They wanted to come over and share another fire.   So back to the rig to finish my book.  We BBQ'ed hamburgers.  They were rather dry.  Then the Mitchell's came over.  A big diesel pusher roosted next to us taking our entire front yard with him.  I have no idea where we are going to put all the kids when they come.  They stayed and chatted  past 9:30.  Finally time for TV and cuddles.
