November 23, 2019 Fenders RV Resort, Needles CA

We were up and out the door at 9am .  About an hour later than we planned.  We drove 414 miles taking highway 41 to 99 to 40.
We stopped in Tulare at the rest stop.  Then again for lunch in Boron at about 1:30.  We stopped in Bakersfield to gas up.  The plan was to get gas here and the again in AZ. Next time we will get gas in Barstow.   Unfortunately it was almost not enough .  We tried getting gas in Essex but they wanted $6.49a gallon and there was a line at the one working pump. So we decided that we would soldier on.  We followed the gos to Fenders where we were reserved.  Unfortunately the road was under construction and closed.  We stopped at a resort and cafe and I had to get out and help Steve turn around.  Of course it was pitch black outside.   We called  Fenders and got directions for the detour.  Of course we were sweating bullets as we watched the gas gauge fall. When we found Fenders we turned in the wrong driveway and had to back out onto the highway .  Once we arrived we tried pulling into the spot as they are pull thrust. The palms however way to close together so we ended up backing into the spot.  Now I remember why I don't like to arrive in the dark.  Once we did a fast hookup  then fed the dogs.  We got back in the truck to get gas and dinner. We were down to 10 Mike's to empty! We bought 3 gallons of as in Needles at 4.99 a gallon.  The took off to Bullhead City,  crossed the AZ border. We filled up at an Arco station about 3 miles  away for 2.99 a gallon.  Back to Needles for a wonderful Pizza dinner. Finally back to the rig for TV and games.
I forgot to mention that this will be our last stay at Fenders.  They failed to mention the road construction and detours when we made the reservations.   She did offer to comp our night's stay but Steve said no.  I guess you get what you pay for.
The tire minder gave us a couple of false reading which also set us on edge.
