The end of another month on the road. Am finally feeling pretty much back to my old self again. 4 more days here. Looking forward to a new back yard as we like to tell the girls. I wonder how we are going to make out at Fiesta Grande for three months. There is a lot more activities and other people to talk to. I really worry how Steve is going to take care of me if I have a catastrophic illness. A caregiver he is not. Maybe I am still upset about our tiff. I certainly am not in the mood to celebrate our anniversary in 2 days.
Steve is still unhappy about something but at least he is speaking to me. Oh well this too shall pass.
Anyway I slept in till 9 am. We got busy or I should say I got busy and did my morning chores and Steve took me out for breakfast at the dragonfly cafe at Mt Hood Village. We got back about 11 and I sat and finish my book. Undercover Amish which was a terrible book. I have no desire to read the sequel. I went out and colored while Steve carved. Back in the house for more reading. Dinner was late as we BBQ'ed chicken. Came in and watched movies till it was time for bed.

I am definitely on the mend. I should be back to normal by tomorrow. Steve was up early to take the bike into the Harley Davidson dealership for servicing. He left at 9 and didn't get back until 4. Long day for him as he had to sit around the dealership for several hours. Though he manages to spend $300. And the bike needs a new front tire . Fortunately we have one.
I did nothing but laze around the house all day. I did manage to take the pups out a couple of times. That is all I did today.

Definitely not much to report. Got a stomach bug. Severe diarrhea and I actually threw up which is unusual for me.
I finally got out of Steve what is bugging him. One of the main things is that I have been buying cherub tomatoes which he can't put on his burgers. Only thinking of myself. This all relates back to suggesting he wash the dishes. So ridiculous. He feels like I am constantly nagging him. He nags me far more. He hasn't been happy for awhile. I suggested we go home and call it quits if he is that unhappy. And guess what he worked himself up to a motorcycle ride. Wow. No surprises there.

Well I finally figured out what is stuck in Steve's craw. A couple of nights ago I mentioned that I thought he should be doing the dishes. I was really joking but apparantly he took it to heart. He jumped up and did what few dishes there were after we BBQ'ed hamburgers. However I am paying for it with his aloofness. He only speaks to m with one word answers. This has gone on for two days now. Course there were no dishes yesterday as we ate with the Peitz's.
Anyway we toured the gorge area today in search of drugs. We first took a left at the beginning of Sandy towards Bull run and followed our noses till we saw a sign to Hw 84. Once we hit hwy 84 we headed to Hood River. Hwy 30 to Multinomah Falls is closed due to slides. Er lynched at Taco Bell and emptied our bladders then headed to Walmart. Then over to the Dalles to check out the army corps of engineers pals. Turned out to be dry camping right along the river. The down hwy 14 to Camus and the Walgreens to get allergy drugs. Unfortunately we hit rush hour traffic in the Portland. Arrived home around 5 and started to prepare the hamburgers. Steve threw the groceries and turned on the BBQ. I asked him to wait until I fed the dogs and prepared the stuff. He got huffy and decided we could wait an hour. We ate dinner and he jumped up an washed the dishes.
Then back to normal activities. Waiting for Bachelor in paradise

We got up at our normal time. Out plan was to leave around 10am and stop at Walmart to get some meds. We were foiled because in OR you have to have a script for sudafed.
So we drove over to Heidi's of Gresham to meet Jim Ans Judy Peitz. We met them at Congress for the Woodcarver's retreat. Were met them at their chapter meeting of the Escapees Chapter 34. It reminded us a lot of the Good Sam's club meetings. Their next rally will be in Florence September 9 to 13. We will just miss them.
Then after lunch and a meeting which took 3 hours we followed them over to
Their house in Oregon City. We sat out on their patio as the dogs were not allowed in the house. They loved running on the grass. Jim BBQ'ed ribs for us. They were wonderful. We didn't have dif food with us so the dogs got fed late. They have us some helpful hints about traveling to Alaska and tried to explain how geo cashing works. Good people.
We did not get home until almost 9 pm.
We fed the dogs and hit the snacks and drinks we were woefully unprepared for the long day away from the house.

We had a rainy day most of the day. Got up about 8 AM and had breakfast as normal. The dogs got walked in their swanky raincoats. Showered early made the beds.
We couldn't BBQ so I decided to have baked chicken with honey garlic sauce.
Watched movies and colored most of the day. About 2:30 we decided to go for a walk. We walked down through the cabins or cabanas and around a small pond looking for blackberries. We noticed one small house for sale. They wanted 90K for it. Steve decided to forget about it as it is quite a hike in to where the berries are.
We came back for more movies and coloring, dinner, dishes and reading. I wrote to Robert Dugoni about a discrepancy in a character's age and he actually wrote me back!

We kind of had a kick back day. We got up at normal time and made waffles for breakfast. I had blackberries on my waffle. We are going to turn into a blackberry . After waffles and lounging I did a boat load of laundry. They had the credit card pay station which worked out well as I was short on quarters.
Finished the laundry about 2:30. I finished another Dugini book. I am down to my last David Sloane book. I wrote Dugoni about how much I enjoyed his books and questioned him on the timeline for Tracey Crosswhite's age.
I made steak chef salads for dinner. Then we had blackberries over ice cream. Steve picked a bunch of berries while I was doing laundry.
Colored some and watched some movies. Storm coming I think. I was overcast most of the afternoon. It was supposed to rain tomorrow and the next day.

Our day started out as usual. Up about the same time as yesterday. We hung out around the house till it was time to drive to Sandy for the dog's nail appointment. Sophie was not happy to have her nails clipped. They had to muzzle her. Such a drama queen. The off to great clips so Steve could get a hair cut. Thank goodness for small miracles he is growing long sideburns. He thinks it makes him look better but he is sadly mistaken. Then we got gas and I went to Safeway to pick up a few things.
The park is filling up for the weekend. We have a new neighbor who came in just as we were leaving for cousin Rich's house.
While traveling thru Sand we noticed runners running along side of the road. It was the annual Hood to Coast relay race. The start at the base of Mt. Hood and end up in seaside. It lasts 24 hours. There are 12 persons on each team and about 1000 teams. So about 12,000 people participate. People were still running down 26 when we came back from Rich's at 8 pm.
After we left Safeway we came back and had a snack.
Then we drove out in the boonies to visit Aunt Alta's son and Ken's Brother Rich aka Ricky.
Had a very nice visit with them. The have a very nice house but it is rather sterile. The furniture is modern and functional. No warmth to the house at all. Lots of toys for the grandkids but other than that no much. The grounds are gorgeous and Steve fell in love with Rich's shop. The poor dogs were stuck in the truck the whole time but I got a better understanding of Rich and Lynnette.
Back home by 9 and back to a more normal routine.

We are really loving it here at Mt Hood Village I got up at 7:30 ish and hung around the house to about 1130 when we set out to get pedicures. Wonderful lady at Nail Piazazz on the backside of Thriftway market in Welches. Had a slight difficulty finding it but well worth the effort. Did a really great job and got some tea tree oil to treat nail fungus. Hope it works. I went first so I could go to the market while Steve had his nails done.
Once that was done we came back to the house for lunch. We tested and recreated until about 3:30. Decided to go pick some blackberries for dessert. We BBQ'd steaks which turned out very well with enough left over for steak salads.
We sat out by the fire. Played Yardzee for the first time. I won barely. Then back in the house for dessert and coloring. Ordered some colored pencils to replace some that were worn down to the nubs and some colors that I didn't have

We got up about 7 and were on the road by 9 am. Steve decided to dump at the state park 9 miles in the opposite direction that we were supposed to go. We were definitely full tho. God forbid we travel with that much more weight. However we both were able to use the bathroom before dumping.
Finally we were on our way to Welches. I think we were both apprehensive after out experience with LaConner. We ended up after some discussion taking Hwy 30 all the way to Portland. Once in Portland we were on 30 by pass. Not sure what it bypassed but we took the narrow high traffic road to 205 to 30/84 and finally hwy 26 took us all the way to Mt Hood Village. Unfortunately there was no where to pull off for lunch or potty. When we got to the park we had to wait forever to check in. So it was almost 3 PM when we were finally able to have lunch. Were got all set up bit by bit. It was almost 90 degrees out but we survived.
Once we got set up we relaxed. We are staying in the new section so that we can get satelite easily. There is a 376 parked right across the street. They are from San Diego.
Some people from Georgia in a Reflection parked next to us but realized they didn't have cable after they were totally set up. They dismantled everything and moved. They were only going to be here for 2 days. They must really be addicted to TV.
I was able to take a shower in the rig and let the water run. It was heavenly. The majority of parks in Washington have no sewer. We have been all over the country and only had the problem in Washington.

My Chinese dinner was a total bomb. I made orange chicken and fried rice. It was hotter than hades today. Sweat was rolling off me. The orange chicken turned out to be hard pellets and not of it ended up in garbage. The fried rice was ordinary. I told Steve we will go out for Chinese in the future.
The rest of the day was okay. We packed a lunch and headed down the road to check out the route we will take tomorrow. We went down the Washington side and crossed over the Lewis and Clark Bridge. Took hwy 30 back to Astoria. We will take hwy 30 tomorrow.
We ate lunch near the ferry that crosses the Columbia river.
We got home about 2:30. I finished another book. Damage Control. Another book by Robert Dugoni. Very talented writer. Couldn't put it down. On to Welches tomorrow.

We got up rather late this morning 8:15. I went to bed around 10:30. Couldn't keep my eyes open.
We had breakfast and did the morning chores. We decided to take a ride and check out the pennisula past long beach. Not a lot out there. We drove through ocean park and historic oysterville. We checked out some of the state parks and decided to come back and have clam chowder. They were having a kite festival in Long Beach but the weather was over cast so it was difficult to see the kites. They had a kite museum there as well but we did not stop. We ended up at The Cove for lunch. It is part of the golf course. There was a group there while we ate. Turned out to be a singing group. They ended up singing a couple of tunes for the other customers. The food was really good. They were out if a lot of items.
After lunch we decided to take the Astoria bridge. We took a potty break for the dogs at the Chinook County Park. We walked down towards the beach but stopped when Steve saw a dead sea lion right at the top of the walkway. The traffic heading for the bridge was unreal for a week day afternoon. We took another bridge to Seaside and the turned around. Steve decided we should have ice cream. We found a Dairy Queen. He had a banana split and I had a blizzard.
Once we finished that we headed home.
After seeing the rest of the RV parks along the way we realized that we were staying at a pretty nice place .
Here on the coast people come here to fish. They just need a place to park their rig. They don't really care about the amenities. The homes are in about the same run down condition as the RV's.
After we came back we lazed around the house and ended up having dinner and sitting out by the trailer. Then reading and TV watching.
Batchelor In Paradise sucks.

I think I prefer blogging instead of handwriting the entries in a book. That way if I want to write more I am not limited to one page and on the flip side I don't feel like I am wasting paper.
The day started out cold and gray in Ocean shores. Our boondocking adventure was over. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We didn't run out if gas in the generator sink we had TV and lights most of the time.
We had a wonderful breakfast at the Casino. Couldn't eat it all. Eggs came 9n top of the pancakes which didn't set well with me as I like my food not touching. Then a quick trip to get gas and we were back to the rig to hook up and take off. Since we didn't have to put away the hose, sewer and cord hooking up did not take long at all. We left about 9:45 and made our way south to Chinook. 95 miles down hwy 101. We stopped for a potty break at a wayside along a river so we wouldn't get here too early.
We arrived about 12:30 and quickly got set up. It is a bare necessities park. Water and electric only. No dump unless we want to go 10 miles north to the state park and pat $5.00. So we will just take showers in their showers and dump at Mt Hood on Wednesday.. K/M parks pretty much suck.
We did take a drive out to the state park--Cape Disappointment to check out the dump. Pretty out there.
Came back, fixed us a bite and took a shower. Now movies and bad.
Finished the 6th and last Tracey Crosswhite book. Not his best but still ok..
The only downside to this kind if blogging is the we have to have phone service. We have been pretty lucky si far with that.. the worst place was Burlington KOA. Discovered their fee wifi at the last minute.

This was our first real experience with boondocking and while it was not terrible it is something I don't want to have to do often. A night here and there is okay but for any length of time is not my cup of tea.
I got up at 8:38 ish and has breakfast and did the usual morning chores. It was sunny in the morning so we decided to sit outside but the dogs were chilly and wanted to go inside. We tried bringing their beds out but inside us where they really wanted to be.
We basically laced around the house all day taking the dogs for a short potty walk about 4 PM.
I cooked leftovers but there was still a lot of dishes to do.
I finished a book called dead girls don't blog. It was on the order of the Evanovich books but sadly didn't measure up. I don't think I will continue with the series.
The weather turned overcast later in the day and remained that way for the rest of the day.
We are headed to Chinook for three nights but we at least will have water and electric..
I will survive.
